Our colleague Edgar O’Mora represented GC Genomics at the Costa Rica 2025 Trade and Investment Summit, where leaders and innovators explored opportunities in agribusiness, biotechnology, and sustainability. New project with the Andalusian Living Lab (Living Lab Andaluz)
At GC Genomics, we have begun sampling at our experimental farm within the Andalusian Living Lab (University of Jaén). Using metagenomics techniques, we will study how soil treatments affect the microbiota and productivity of olive groves, reinforcing our commitment to more efficient and sustainable agriculture.
Illumina Day Seville
We attended Illumina Day Seville at CABIMER, where we learned about new applications of Illumina technology and shared experiences with professionals who drive innovation in genomics, biomedicine, and biotechnology.

Pioneering Yeast Research for Sherry Wines
GC Genomics partnered with Bodegas Lustau and the University of Cádiz to study the velo de flor—the unique yeast layer in sherry wine aging. We developed a custom genetic panel to explore its biodiversity and better understand how yeast influences the flavor, quality, and tradition of sherry wines. Read the article here.

Dr. Gallach Leads New Lab in Spain
Dr. Miguel Gallach, Chief Scientific Officer of GC Genomics, has relocated to our Spain office to lead the launch of our new genomics lab.
This move marks a key step in expanding our European presence and accelerating ongoing projects and new international collaborations. Dr. Gallach’s leadership will ensure the lab becomes a hub for innovation in agricultural genomics and microbial research.
